Sour Cream Cut-Out Cookie Recipe

When the holidays roll around, I know it's time to celebrate when momma brings out the cut-out cookies to nibble on! I love her soft sour cream cut-out cookies any time of the year. We decided to head to the kitchen to make some heart shaped cookies for Valentine's. Any excuse to make cookies, right?

I had so much fun being in the kitchen with momma. She's one of the best bakers I know around and learning from her is something I was always cherish. Watch us in the kitchen and grab the recipe below if you're in the mood to get bakin'!

SOUR CREAM CUT-OUT COOKIE RECIPE:
1 cup butter- soft
1 cup white sugar
1 cup sour cream
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
5-6 cups white flour

Cream the butter, sugar and sour cream together in your mixer. Add your eggs and vanilla. Add your dry ingredients making sure the dough isn't too sticky but not over mixed. Chill the finished dough for 2-4 hours (or overnight). Cut out your pretty designs, placing them on a air-bake cookie sheet and popping them into the 350º oven for 8-10 minutes. Do not over-bake!

 FROSTING RECIPE:

In a bowl, add a cup or two of powdered sugar, drizzling in melted butter and milk to make it the perfect spreadable frosting! Add in your coloring if you wish to make a sweet red or pink!
